CONFERENCE OVERVIEW:

The National Research and Innovation in Orthopaedics Conference is tailored towards all medical students and foundation doctors considering a career in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery. The conference programme consists of a series of interesting talks in the morning given by leading consultants in their field and opportunities in the afternoon to take part in practical workshops which aim to simulate operations frequently carried out in Trauma and Orthopaedics. There will also be a fantastic opportunity to receive guidance on your portfolios from senior surgeons. In addition, participants may also benefit from the following things:

Talks

Hear from leading surgeons in the speciality about advancements in different sub-specialities in as well as culture change surrounding the profession, including the increasing number of female trainees.

Workshops

Practical workshops include simulations of a Total Hip Replacement, a Dynamic Hip Screw and fracture fixation techniques. Thanks to our kit providers Smith & Nephew, you'll be able to get some hands on equipment on these common orthopaedic procedures. More workshop activities to be confirmed nearer to the date!

Portfolio Sessions

Want to know how to impress with your portfolio? Along with a lecture to begin with, we'll be hosting small group sessions regarding how to start on your portfolio, build on what you already have, or get yours critiqued! We have invited orthopaedic registrars and consultants to give you some top tips on how to get that training number!

Opportunities to present your work

We offer students/foundation doctors the fantastic opportunity to present their work at our conference. We accept case studies, original research, literature reviews or audits.
